How Much Does It Cost to Hire a DJ in Nairobi?

There is no single price for DJ hire in Nairobi, and any company that quotes you a figure before asking about your event is guessing. What you pay depends on a handful of practical factors, and understanding them helps you brief suppliers properly and compare quotations fairly.
What changes the price
- Hours on site — a four-hour birthday and a twelve-hour wedding are different jobs.
- Whether the DJ brings sound, or plays through a system already at the venue.
- Guest numbers and venue size, which decide how much sound you actually need.
- Indoor or outdoor — open spaces need more power and often a generator.
- Lighting, screens, MC and effects bundled with the DJ.
- Travel and accommodation if the event is outside Nairobi.
- Date — December, April and August weekends are the busiest.
DJ only versus DJ plus sound
Booking a DJ on their own is cheaper only if the venue already has a working, correctly sized system with an operator. Most Nairobi venues do not. Where they do not, a DJ + sound package is usually better value than hiring the two separately, because one crew delivers, sets up and runs everything.
How to get an accurate quotation
Send us the event date, the venue and area, the start and end times, your guest numbers and whether you need lighting, an MC or screens. We come back with a written quotation for exactly that scope rather than a generic price list.
